- 3 cups all purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 ½ tsp salt
- 1 package fast-acting yeast
- ½ tbsp olive oil
- Garlic powder, oregano, salt and pepper to taste
- Grated parmesan cheese to taste
Mix dry ingredients. Add water and olive oil. Knead for 5 minutes and form into a ball. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise at room temperature for half an hour.
Preheat oven to 450°F. Dust a cutting board with flour, roll out dough to 1/16 inch thickness. Baste half the surface with oil and dry herbs/spices. Dust basted surface with parmesan cheese. Fold over and cut into 1/4 inch strips. Twirl each strip to form a helix.
Place strips on a baking surface and put in the heated oven for 20 minutes. These are meant to be crunchy, so they can stay out for a couple of days. That assumes they’ll last for a couple of days. Goes well with garlic & olive oil dipping sauce.
